How do we start Saturday? Yes, with a highlight that everyone can contribute to its uniqueness. Come and sing with PIY - punk rock karaoke. But now first the BTF short check.
How would you describe the BTF visitors?
A bunch of crazy drinking chaots who prefer to let the sun roast on their stomachs with loud bangs in ominous forest baths. Good people.
And what about the location where you perform every year?
It's a forest bath. We don't have a stage. We let people scream and drink schnapps at noon at 30 degrees, right next to a pool that is up to 6 meters deep. Beautiful!
What is the favorite song at BTF?
What's the worst ?!
How could the BTF be made even better?
Direct festival site connection to the outdoor pool with a water slide from the main stage directly into the pond, beer self-shooting facilities in and around the site, cotton candy.
Which Saturday opener on the festival site did you miss and are you annoyed about it?
Terror fat. Unfortunately, we played them down last year because we had mercilessly overdone in the forest pool! After a quick look at the organizer's carotid artery, we stopped and were able to watch the last riffs from afar while dismantling - sounded promising! Invite them back!

SUBHUMANS IN THE BTF CHECK

How do you introduce yourself to us?
This is a completely new festival for us and we come with no expectations. We hope it's as good as most punk festivals.
What did punk mean to you these days?
Openness, lasting friendships, tension and powerful music.
What do you love most about punk rock?
All of the above. In addition, this always the same effect that it has on people, which is why punk is so lively even after 40 years,
Why are political statements still important in punk rock today?
Because politics not only affects our daily life in the society we live in, but also how we interact with one another. In addition, everything we do is somehow political and is reflected in our behavior and attitude. The power that politicians have (supported by business, banks and the media) means that we have to be aware of their actions and react accordingly, even if we hate politics. In addition, we always have to find ways of living together that cannot be influenced by these people. DIY punk is a good example of this. No value is placed on the great coal or other capitalist values. Instead, for example, cooperations take place here. Punk is a music scene that is much more political than others because, unlike others, it questions reality far more often than others.

We express ourselves through punk music. Without a doubt, texts are very important to us. But the band's concept is the intense stage show. In this way we try to convey a clear message.

SOCIAL ENEMIES IN BTF-CHECK

Which machine do you not want to be part of?
We do not want to belong to the greedy and externally determined masses who dutifully do what is prescribed for them. We are motivated to question the social conditions and to go our own way, as a social enemy.
Try to describe in a few words what it is like to be a social enemy.
Being a social enemy means living in a self-determined manner and still questioning one's own actions, standing up for solidarity with one another and still finding the sore points of humanity and drilling into them through our texts in order to identify and name social problems.
What is important for you at a gig?
We want people to have a cool time, treat each other with respect and enjoy the music. And when one or the other person is stimulated to think through our music and shakes the dance floor, then it was a terrific gig for us.

You are from Dresden, how often have you been a guest at the BTF?
Of course, this varies internally. The maximum was probably seven times! And a visit to the festival goes to our singer with his old band “Drunken Bastards” in a Wolfgang Petry costume. Luckily I (Felix) wasn't there, haha!
What makes punk rock still distinctive in 2019 compared to other styles of music - not just purely musically?
Okay, in a nutshell: Punk is still about taking matters into your own hands. The scene thrives on D.I.Y. - by the people for the people. That's why people aren't unattainable stars, but people like you and me. It's friendly, has character and has given the kids the impulse to "learn" instruments and form bands from the very beginning. It's not magic and everyone can become part of it and, above all, everyone can have a say in the discursive negotiation process of the self-image of "punk". That's another thing I love about punk rock. It's a great springboard because you're given all the freedom and you decide what you do with it and how you define "punk" for yourself. It starts with the style of music and ends with your own life plan. And don't forget to fuck off!
