FLEXFITZ - INTERVIEW

What do you know about the BTF? Colorful line-up, colorful people - and all of it in the middle of Saxony. As a band from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, we really appreciate it when alternative music culture takes place not only in Berlin or Hamburg, but also in the provinces. In addition, the BTF together with the Resist To Exist is a real rock when it comes to the big punk festivals in Germany.

What does it mean for you to play here? We are very happy that we can take another big festival with us this summer and still have the opportunity to record our new album NEBEL | LEBEN (released June 23). And when we look at the line-up like that, we get really sentimental at times. There are a few bands with whom we grew up more than ten years ago through the legendary “Schlachtrufe BRD” sampler. It's a great thing how the BTF also closes musical circles.

You are a very political band. What message are you coming with? We have been experiencing an unmistakable shift to the right in Germany and Europe for several years. In the autumn, the AfD, a right-wing party with a sovereign faction strength, will move into the Bundestag. Punk in Germany today has to be more political than ever! If it is not a left counterculture that calls racism, homophobia and nationalism by their names, who is left in these times? It looks so sad. Accordingly, we are not really into the fact that punk unfortunately sometimes degenerates into postmodern folklore without political standpoints.

What connection do you have with Thomas von Loikaemie? A very good one. Thomas is a friend of our drummer Martin, that's where the wire comes from. The two met a number of years ago at the Force Attack. And since Thomas now lives in Rostock, you meet every now and then over a beer or at concerts. Even if we don't have much to do with Oi-Punk musically, Thomas always has good advice ready for us. Be it for our music or privately. Best regards and a thousand thanks for that!

LA FLINGUE - INTERVIEW

What does it look like when a rat pogo dances? That doesn't look so good. In France, someone associates this with poor, less well-off and angry facial expressions.

What can people expect who don't know you? We can't say that exactly. Gaffa tape? Plastic bags? Wild drinking? Excessive insults? Bad German with a terrible accent? Hm, maybe it's better not to expect anything.

Finish this sentence: To us, playing music means ... Nothing! When you start thinking about the music you're making, you run the risk of getting bored. Or maybe we're wrong. Hm, somehow we don't get to the point.

Okay, who are you happy to see? Yeah, we're really looking forward to The Kids. But also New Bomb Turks. Olivier saw her six or seven times and was never disappointed. Someone we've heard good things about, but haven't seen yet, is Sniffing Glue. But best of all is meeting lots of old German pals. Oh and while we're allowed to do a little promo: Next year we're going on a tour with our Peruvian friends from Morbo.

PREPARATIONS RUNNING!

Jesse, while you pick each other's nose or play other teasing games, we took a look at the location on the riding arena in the great weather. In three and a half weeks it will look a lot different there.

We are as happy as hulle and hope you feel the same way.

OXO 86 - INTERVIEW

This year, for the first time, there is a family campsite. Will you find your band there as an extended family? No, we camp freely in the backstage according to the motto "short distances". Although it's probably quieter on the family campsite.

Since some of you always bring the children with you, would you classify the BTF as a child-friendly festival? I don't know, it's not the organizer's job to be child-friendly, because that's not the target group. My kids find most of the bands (still) boring and loud. Nevertheless, the BTF is attractive to them, which is probably more due to the swimming pool and the fact that they can stay awake longer.

How do your children react to the crazy skis that happen at every festival? Just like in the city: from amazed to amused to disconcerting. So you react very grown-up, hahaha.

As parents, what would you wish for from festival organizers? Hm, maybe that someone looks after the children from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. so that the parents can sleep in.

DYS - IN INTERVIEW

Why do you think straight edge is still important? Straight edge is more important than ever to us for two reasons. First, because a lot of different drugs are at all-time highs in the US and other countries, people should know that there are alternatives. Second, it has never been so important to be clear about what is going on around you. Politically and socially.

What are the Boston crew members doing today? Well, we'll keep going as long as our fans stay inspired by our music and our content. The reverse is also true. We also have the best line up so far, with a unique combination of different influences. Different talents bring different experiences.

Which colleagues are you most looking forward to? There are some really good bands there. We look forward to Lion's Law, which we've heard good things about but never seen.

TOXOPLASMA: Pissed off and bitter like on the first day

What do you think of the Back To Future? The Back To Future is a festival where you can run stress-free with the whole family. You rarely find that.

Are there other bands that you look forward to seeing? It's not so much the bands, most of them have already shared the stage with them. First and foremost, it is the many familiar faces that come together there and we look forward to seeing them again.

The live break was a little longer this time. What has happened since then? We have been working on new songs that should be released on a new record. But the toxoplasmic mill is known to work very slowly.

What have you missed at every festival so far? At other festivals we miss the family atmosphere. Usually you are rushed through the program so that the running order is adhered to. That's why you rarely find us at such events.

THE RESTARTS: ANARCHOPUNK'S SPEARHEAD!

Hey guys, you are not unfamiliar with the festival, what are you most looking forward to? Kieran: I'm looking forward to the swimming pool again.
Robin: I like to play an open air.

What do you think is generally important at a festival? Kieran: A nice place, lots of stalls or distros that the campsite is not too far from the festival area and lots of delicious beer. Robin: Affordable prices, that it is DIY and that the audience takes care of their rubbish themselves afterwards.
Jeremy: That there is a weekend ticket if the festival lasts longer.

What is the most annoying thing about a festival? Kieran and Jeremy: Standing in line when you need to go to the bathroom.
Robin: To have to wait forever to order a beer.

Are you looking forward to another band at the festival? Kieran: Yeah, we're all looking forward to The Baboon Show, Maid Of Ace and Night Fever. I'm also curious about New Bomb Turks, which I last saw in the nineties.
